Afaf graduated from SOAS in 2003 with an MA in Violence, Conflict & Development. After completing her degree, it was difficult for her to return to Palestine, so Afaf decided to work in Cairo as a Manager for the Ramattan News Agency (which is of Palestinian origin).


While studying for a postgraduate degree in Ethnomusiology at SOAS, Tarek said that if it were not for the existence of the MBI Al Jaber Foundation scholarship programme, he would not have been able to finance the expense of taking his degree in London


Basil graduated in 2002 with a postgraduate degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS. He is now working in the Middle East Trading Department for Kolmar Group AG, a worldwide trading company located in Zug in Switzerland.


Rania is the Horn of Africa Team Leader at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in New York. Rania joined UNOCHA in 2008 as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer from her post as Political Affairs Officer with the United Nations Advance Mission in Khartoum, Sudan.


Majida graduated in 2001 from SOAS with an MA in Development Studies. Several months after returning to Palestine, she was offered a job at BirZeit University where she worked as a Project Manager with the European Commission’s Human Rights Programme.


Majeda graduated from SOAS in 2001 with an MA in Development Studies. On completing her degree, she informed people in Gaza about the MBI Al Jaber Foundation and encouraged students she thought would be suitable, to apply for scholarships.


Rola Abdul-Latif is Research Manager at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) in Washington, a non-profit organization that supports democracy and elections around the world. As IFES’ Research Manager, Rola specializes in designing and implementing public opinion and evaluation research projects to inform and support IFES’ core functions in elections and democracy assistance.


Areej holds an MBA in Public Governance. She has led and conducted several campaigns for the Syrian and Iraqi refugees in cooperation with Caritas and has also founded and co-managed a number of educational institutes under a company called Thaqafaty. In addition, Areej has led the marketing team at Teamwork, developing several key marketing plans and strategies.


Fahmia graduated from the University of Westminster in 2009 with an MA in International Relations. She is currently working for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as a Communication Analyst, promoting and raising awareness about reproductive health, reproductive rights, gender, and population issues in order to help reduce maternal mortality in Yemen.


Mohammed graduated with an MSc in Energy and Environmental Technology and Economics. With a long history of volunteer work, he has undertaken numerous PR and journalist roles across the Middle East. Mohammed currently works as an Educational Consultant at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in London.
