Heba graduated from AUC in 2004 with a degree in Arabic Studies and is now carrying out postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley in the USA following gaining her PhD in Architecture from Cambridge University.

She was previously a Lecturer in the department of Performing and Visual Arts at the American University in Cairo, teaching a course entitled ‘Foundations of Design and Colour’, and at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology’s department of Architecture, teaching a range of studio-based architecture courses.

As part of her research, she helped construct computer models of the palaces of the Mamluks at the southern enclosure of the Citadel of Cairo, exploring the relationship between ceremonial, royal authority, the Sultanic image and architectural-urban expressions.
